What is an Iggy?
An Iggy is a special message that usually includes a photo, and a message of some kind, pulled together into a nice looking note. Senders can select specific recipients or make it public, and attach the message to a specific geographic location. The Iggy is then locked to that location, and can only be accessed when the recipient is present at the location.
Who can receive an Iggy?
Anyone who has an iPhone can receive an Iggy. All they have to do is install the app and create a user account, and they are all set to Iggy It!
How do I create an account?
There are three simple ways to create an account. You can connect using a Facebook log-in, a Twitter Log-in, or an email address. The only personal details required are your first and last name, email address, and a profile photo. Then get in and start creating Iggys!
What needs to be included in an Iggy?
Creating an Iggy is simple. All you need is a photo, some simple text, a recipient (either private or public), and a location where your Iggy will wait to be retrieved. That's it!
How do I retrieve an Iggy?
Easy! Each locked Iggy tells you where it is located. Just travel to that location, and unlock the special message waiting for you.
Why is the Iggy I just received locked?
Iggys are attached to specific locations. In order to actually see the full Iggy someone has send you, you must travel to the location where the Iggy was left. Once there, you can retrieve the Iggy and experience what that message, while surrounded by the location which inspired it all.
What is a public recipient?
A public recipient indicates an Iggy that is open to public viewing and retrieval to anyone who is in the required geographic proximity to the location where the Iggy was left. If you choose no recipients when creating your Iggy, it will automatically become a public Iggy.
How do I invite friends?
You can quickly find other friends who are already on Iggy via our simple search for their name. If you find they are not on Iggy yet, you can easily invite new friends via your Facebook friends list, pull their information from your contact list, or even just add their email address.
Do I always have to be in the location to retrieve an Iggy?
Until the Iggy is unlocked, yes. After an Iggy is unlocked, all private Iggys and always be retrieved, no matter your current location. For public Iggys, you must always be at the location in order to retrieve it.
Can I share the Iggy?
If it was a private Iggy sent just to you, and you have already unlocked it, absolutely! There are share links right on the Iggy to make it even more convenient to share via Facebook or Twitter. If it s a public Iggy, there is no sharing functions. We want those Iggys to be a surprise for all who have not retrieved it yet.
Can I enter an address for a location?
Currently, you can only use existing Foursqaure locations, Foursquare locations you create, or your current location with a custom label for a location. We have not build in the address function just yet.
Can I enter a custom location?
The only custom location you can enter via the app is your current location. That custom location and label does not get saved for furture uses. It is only used once.
What locations are listed?
All public FourSquare locations are currently listed. The list will show the closest 50 results, but you can search for locations by name for up to 20 miles.
Why is it taking so long to load?
Since we are currently in an alpha version, we are still working out the load bugs. Photos can take some time to load, so it might take a little bit for your photos to appear right now. But we are working on it!
Is there anything else that comes from using Iggy?
That's a great idea! In fact, we want to ask you that question. How do you use Iggy? What would you want for using Iggy? Let us know. firstname.lastname@example.org
I did not activate the location function. How do I fix that?
Not a problem. You can easily fix it. On your iPhone, just go into settings, then select privacy, and then location services. There, you can turn on the switch next to Iggy.
